*Annual Percentage Yield (APY) is a figure calculated using a federally-mandated formula. It's designed to help you compare the return you'll get in a uniform way between the certificate, savings, and money market accounts offered at various institutions. It tells you at what percentage your money will grow in one year at the same dividend rate – including the effects of compounding. For example, the APY on a savings account would be what you earned at the end of a year if you made a deposit on the first day of the year, did not add to or subtract from the balance along the way, nor withdrew any dividends.

Rates may change after the account is opened and are subject to change weekly. Funds earn dividends from the first business day of deposit and are compounded daily and posted monthly. Accrued dividends are forfeited if account is closed prior to monthly dividend posting. Fees or other conditions may reduce earnings on these accounts. Please refer to DCU's Truth-in-Savings Disclosure and Account Agreements, Schedule of Fees and Service Charges, and Electronic Services Disclosure and Agreements for important information and disclosures.

Federal Reserve Regulation D states no more than six (6) pre-authorized, telephone, automatic, or check withdrawals or transfers in any combination are permitted in any calendar month from your Money Market Account.

Money Market Account January 20, 2018

DCU had the best rate in town when it came to Money Market and what I was looking for long term. I signed up after only looking at two other banks and realized that DCU was the best place to sign up.

How is the penalty applied when account balances fall below $1,000?

At what minimum balance is the account closed?
Asked by: Mrbill
The minimum balance needed to earn dividends on a Money Market is $1,000, however, no penalty is assessed if the balance falls below $1,000, just no dividends are earned for those days. The minimum balance needed to keep the account open is $0.01. If the balance maintained is zero, after several months the account will automatically close.
