DCU’s commitment to our members and the communities we are a part of transcends far beyond traditional banking.
The DCU Way is just that. It's how we've always operated and we boiled it down to three simple principles.
DCU is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
At DCU, people come first. The individual differences, life experiences, knowledge, inventiveness, innovation, self-expression, unique capabilities, and talent that our employees invest in their work represent a significant part of not only our culture, but our reputation and company’s achievement as well.
We embrace and encourage our employees’ differences in age, color, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics and experiences that make our employees unique. We all have a responsibility to always treat each other with dignity and respect and to ensure equal access to opportunity at DCU.
We set our employees up to be successful with a culture that promotes helping, supporting and enabling others to be the best they can be. We take a keen interest in our employees’ career development – supporting those who want to grow with the company or may want to switch roles.
Vice Presidents frequently coordinate shadow days and on-the-job learning opportunities in the departments employees aspire to.
We assist employees in identifying and improving skills so that they may expand and enrich their current job or change careers. This is accomplished through internal on-the-job training to improve job skills, internal cross-training, Tuition Reimbursement for continuing education or seminars, and our job-posting program.
Training in DCU’s products, procedures, systems, and sales skills is essential for team members to perform efficiently and assist members. We provide our employees with a number of one-time, and on-going training programs – including new hire training, product training modules, sales training, diversity training, computer skills, system training, and leadership development.
DCU has created a Think Tank for all employees to submit ideas to improve the credit union’s current processes, member experience, or propose innovative solutions. All ideas will be presented to and evaluated by a committee comprised of Managers from different areas of the credit union. Employees will be awarded gift cards for their solutions.
