New Member Guide

Imagine a company whose purpose is to help you achieve financial well-being. Wouldn't they put your needs first? Wouldn't they try to save you money wherever they could? Wouldn't they make it easy for you to get what you need? Wouldn't they serve you with respect? You don't have to imagine.

We're Digital Federal Credit Union. Most members simply call us DCU. Over 800,000 DCU members have made us one of the fastest growing credit unions in America. People often choose us for the value and convenience they see in our products and services. They stay and refer their friends and family for a deeper reason. They feel how much the people of DCU care about them and are determined to help them make the right financial decisions. It's Banking – The DCU Way.

Experiencing The DCU Way

Everything you need – easy to use – We want to be your first choice for everything financial. We strive to do that every day. We continuously improve the services we offer and make them available whenever and wherever you need them

Serving you is our only priority – We are a credit union. A credit union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative. That means we are owned by and operated for you and your fellow members.

Our people care about you – To serve you the way you deserve, we've built a dedicated team of friendly people eager and ready to go the extra mile for you.

Consumer education – Our award-winning, unbiased StreetWise Consumer Education Program is strong evidence of our commitment to member consumer and financial education.

We listen to you and respond – If you have a question, problem, or concern, you can expect us to take it seriously and address it fast.

Getting the most from DCU

When you let us help you in every way we can, you'll receive the maximum benefit from your membership. It's what we're here for. That means choosing DCU to satisfy all or most of your financial service needs.

That starts with a DCU Checking Account with direct deposit, making at least 5 payments per month. Payments include debit and/or credit card transactions, bill payments, balance transfers, or P2P transfers. By doing so, you'll earn extra valuable Free Checking benefits. Available benefits include:

  • Free unlimited ATM transactions at ATMs everywhere – Save $0.75 per transaction at non-DCU ATMs.
  • Non-DCU ATM surcharges reimbursed automatically – Up to $10.00 per month if you have Free Checking with Plus benefits, up to $25.00 per month if you have Free Checking with Relationship benefits, with no receipts to turn in.
  • With direct deposit, get paid up to two days early – We credit payroll deposits to your account when we get the transmission – often one or two days before your actual payday!
  • Free DCU Custom style checks – 100 checks per year.

DCU PINs and Passwords

What is a PIN (Personal Identification Number)?

A PIN is a number that you use in conjunction with your DCU Membership Number to access electronic services. It's a secret password only you should know. For security, don't share your PIN with anyone. Do not write it on your checkbook, Debit Card, or ATM Card. No one at DCU knows your PIN and no one will ask you for it.

What do I need a PIN for?

You need your DCU PIN for the following:

  • Debit Card/ATM transactions at ATMs or point-of-sale (POS) locations
  • Access to your accounts using Easy Touch Telephone Teller System
  • To take a Visa® Cash Advance on your DCU Visa account at an ATM
  • To access your accounts via Online Banking for the first time. You will be prompted to create a unique password for Online Banking upon your first log on.

When will I receive my PIN?

You should receive your PIN within seven days after you join DCU.

May I select my own PIN?

For security reasons, PINs are generated by DCU. Members cannot select their own PIN.

What if I lose or forget my PIN?

A PIN may be reordered at any DCU branch or by faxing or mailing your name, member number, and signature to the Account Services Center. Your signature is required for security. The PIN will be mailed to you at the address we have on file within seven days.

  •  Fax – Fax to the DCU Account Services Center at 508.263.6453.
  • Mail – Mail to Digital Federal Credit Union, ATTN: Account Services Department, 220 Donald Lynch Boulevard, Marlborough, MA 01752.

If you receive an invalid PIN message at an ATM?

It may be because your card is damaged. To test it, try using Easy Touch. If it works, your card is most likely damaged, and a new card should be ordered. If it doesn't work, you may be entering the wrong number. You can order a new copy as described above.

Your Online Banking Password

We require you to customize your Online Banking Password to a minimum of 6 characters made of a mix of numbers and letters for your security. If you forget your Online Banking Password or your account is locked due to login failures, you can reset it by following these directions.

Account Statements

eStatements

New members automatically receive eStatements. If you decide that you would like to receive paper statements, you can make changes at any time through your eStatement Profile through Online Banking.

Statements are sent out monthly. Some accounts may only receive quarterly statements. If you receive eStatements, you will receive an email notifying you that your statement is now available to review. You can receive your Visa® Statement in the mail or electronically. The electronic version of your Visa Statement is called Visa eBill and you will receive an email notifying that your Visa eBill is available online.

Keeping your information up to date

To receive your statements, new DCU Visa® Credit Cards, new DCU Check (Debit) Cards, and other credit union mail without delay, we always need your current address on file. We need your email address to notify you that your eStatements are ready to view. It's also important for us to have your current home and office phone number so we can reach you quickly when necessary.

If your mailing address, email address, or phone numbers have or will soon change, you have options to provide and update this  information:

  • Online Banking – Log on and select the 'Update my information' link under your name and address on the right. This will give you a form where you can change your address, phone number, and email address.
  • The Information Center – Call us at 800.328.8797, weekdays from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Eastern time. For security reasons, you'll be asked questions to positively establish your identity and authority to change your address.
