| Security and encryption | ||||
DCU automatically directs visitors to our home page through our secure server so all communication is encrypted. This means whenever we send you or you send us personal information over the web, if ever intercepted in transit, it cannot be read by anyone other than you.
We use the standard web security protocol called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL provides data encryption, server authentication, and message integrity. In your browser address window, you should see https: as part of the address of the page you are on. You should also see a closed padlock icon somewhere around the border of your browser window usually on the lower right.
If you see http: instead of https: as part of the address, you can retype the address with the "s" added to get on the secure server.

This site is also designed to be viewed with a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or higher the resolution used on most new computers and laptops. It may be viewed at 800 x 600 without loss of content. If you cannot see the full toolbars at the top of the page or you must scroll left or right to see the entire width of the site, make sure your browser window is maximized. You can do this on most PCs by clicking on the small square icon in the upper right corner of the window.
If you still do not see the whole width, set you screen resolution to 800 x 600 or higher. On most Windows computers, you'll find the window to change this setting by pointing at your Windows desktop and clicking the right button of your mouse. Next, click Properties then Settings. Point to the "sliding" indicator, hold down your left mouse button, and drag the indicator to the right until a screen resolution of "800 x 600" or "1024 x 768" is shown. Click on apply. See your Windows or Mac instructions for details.

| Accessibility | ||||
DCU believes that its web services should be accessible to everyone regardless of their ability or disability. We make every reasonable effort to meet the Priority 1 and Priority 2 standards under the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).
By following these guidelines, our web site is optimized for the use of screen-reading programs. On most portions of the site, you can freely change the size of text by changing browser settings.

| Getting around the site | ||||
|
You can navigate through our web site using the links across the top header on every page and the tool bars on the right. Most pages also have links that allow you to easily return back through the same pages through which you arrived. A series of standard page links are also at the bottom of each screen. If you are using a text-only browser, or are dialing-in using a slow connection, you may choose not to automatically load images. This is a feature that you can turn on or off using your personal browsing software.
