What are Money Wires?

Money wires (or wire transfers) are a fast, safe way to move money between accounts at different financial institutions.

Ways to order a Domestic Wire

Ways to order an International Wire

  • Online
Log into Online Banking from the dcu.org homepage, go to Account Manager and choose Payments/Transfers.
  • Visit a DCU Branch
Visit the Internet Café at many of our branches.

To send a wire, we'll need:

  1. The Prime member's name, your name – if you're not the Prime member, your member number, and the residential address.
  2. The account (suffix) number of the account from which the funds will be sent. Your member number is the umbrella number for your whole DCU relationship. Your account number is the one or two digit number found on your statement for each of your checking, savings, certificate, or loan accounts.
  3. The name and address of the receiving bank.
  4. The receiving bank's 9 digit ABA number for Domestic Wires.
  5. The receiving bank's Swift Code for International Wires. Please be advised International Wires have different requirements, dependent on country. The list of requirements are available to you in Account Manager.
  6. The account number the money is going to and the full name and address of the person on that account.

To speed processing of your request, we prefer you log into Online Banking and submit your request online using our secure wire transfer form located under Account Manager in the Payments/Transfers tab.

To receive a wire, the sending institution will need:

  1. Our ABA number – 211391825.
  2. Your name/name on account.
  3. Your account number.
    • Your member number for deposit into your savings account, or
    • Your checking account number. We refer to this number as the SDC (cross reference) number and it is the 8-digit number at the bottom of your check.

DCU does not participate in the Swift Network and therefore does not have a Swift Code or IBAN. If you are receiving funds from a foreign country, the originating institution will need to send the funds through an intermediary institution. It is up to the origination institution as to what intermediary institution they use, as DCU has no affiliation with any other institutions.

Please contact the originating institution for their wiring instructions. Please be advised additional fees may be charged by the intermediary bank due to contractual agreements. DCU has no prior knowledge of these fees and is not responsible for them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wire Transfer is a breeze I've never used another institution for wire transfer, but it's a breeze with DCU. And, on one occasion, I had to stop the wire and the staff were most helpful and I got my money back fullly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent customer service I used money wire service a long time ago and it was safe, efficient and very convenient. On another note, I just recently had to request a stop payment on a check since it got lost in the mail and I had to send a replacement check. I got an email response giving me the details on what I can do to complete this task. So I called the number on the email and the customer service rep (Aaron?) that assisted me was very courteous, understanding and very helpful. I'm so glad to be a member of DCU. Keep up the good work!

How to transfer between DCU to DCU (friend's)

How do I transfer from my DCU to my firend's DCU account using PC Branch (online)
Asked by: cookie
I get my friends DCU account number. I call DCU and tell them to transfer money my account (checking or saving) to my friends checking or saving. It is the best way. Immediately they can see the amount credited in their account. Online: First time you have to call DCU, then ask them to include (link) his account so 2nd time onwards you can transfer using online. If your friend wants to transfer money to you then he/she has to same like you.

I transfer money several times a year from my European Bank to DCU. I must use the "International Payment without IBAN", since the US does not use them. Beneficiary's Account No.: (Not member number) I get it from the bottom of the checks. Beneficiary: Full DCU account member's address. Must match DCU account information. BIC / SWIFT Address: Not used by DCU. Leave Blank. Bank of the Beneficiary: DIGITAL FCU 220 DONALD LYNCH BLVD 01752 MARLBOROUGH United States of America Amount: as appropriate This seems to work fine, although I bounced the first time when I had wrong information. The fees usually depend on the sending bank. I don't think DCU charges for incoming wires. I think I paid my European Bank around $20. I hope this helps.
