Email from FBI is fakeRemar Sutton, DCU StreetWise Spokesperson
The latest virus making the rounds is attached to messages that seem to come from the FBI, CIA, or a German law enforcement agency. They are fake. The virus is also attached to messages offering a download manager for Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie video clips. They are fake too.
The fake FBI message states that the recipient's IP address has been logged on 30 illegal websites. It asks that the recipient click on the attachment to answer some questions. The CIA and German messages are similar. NEVER, EVER download or open these attachments. The FBI has issued an alert telling you more about the scam.
Another virus is attached to messages that seem to come from an email service provider or support staff providing information about a suspended account or passwords.
The bottom line: NEVER, EVER open or download attachments that you aren't expecting even if they seem to be from a legitimate source. Also don't click on links in unsolicited emails. If you don't respond you will prevent infections.
