These sites provide plenty of detailed travel information.
Access-Able Travel Source is exactly what the name says-a source of information. It has numerous searchable lists: travel agents and tour operators that are experienced in trip planning for travelers with disabilities; cruise ships listed by cruise line indicating what cabins are accessible and what features they have; world destinations giving accommodation, attractions, transportation, and equipment rental & repair information. Additional information includes travel tips, relay & TTY numbers for airlines, and travel tales.
MossRehab ResourceNet Accessible Travel has an excellent general resource. Its sections are full of contact information. The sections include: Travel Tips, Travel Agencies, State Tourism Offices, Tourism Offices by Country, Cruise Check List, Airlines – Trains – Buses, Hotels – Motels, Automobile Rental Agencies, Van Rental Companies, Driving with a Disability, Travel Alerts – Warnings, Travel Resources, Travel Publications, Government Resource, Weather, Newsgroups – Mailing Lists, Featured Trip.
Emerging Horizons is a magazine about accessible travel with several subscription options. Selected articles are featured on the site. The site also has a travel resources database that is updated monthly. Resource listings include destinations, free access guide, lodging, medical travel, products and services, reading list, recreation, and transportation. Each resource has a detailed description and a link.
The Handicapped Travel Club site has information on RV traveling. The campground info link has detailed information on accessible campgrounds nationwide. Resource info has data provided by club members on RV manufactures, RV rentals, used RV ads, and RV conversions.
The Project ACTION Accessible Travelers' Database is a comprehensive database of accessible transit services in the United States. It contains public transit operators, accessible van rental companies, private bus/tour companies with accessible vehicles, accessible taxis, airport transportation, hotel-motel shuttles, and national 800 numbers. The search is conducted by city. There are links to urban public transit operators, rural public transit operators, and the national toll free numbers.
