Distance Learning


Distance Learning, in which courses are typically taken by correspondence, online, video/TV or a combination, is another option for education. Distance learning is available for all ages. Some programs enable you to earn a diploma, degree, or certificate.
A good place to begin is with Distance Education: A Consumer's Guide. It is an excellent overview produced by the Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications.
Peterson's Distance Learning is a section on the Peterson's site that provides various information related to distance learning. There is a series of articles with lots of good information, particularly for helping determine if distance learning is right for you.
Another good article is "Red Flags to Watch for When Choosing Distance Education Programs". Search for distance learning programs or courses, read descriptions of programs at specific schools, or take a distance learning assessment.
Paying for Your Distance Education provides some specific information relating to financial aid for distance education.
