2008 DCU Memorial Scholarship Program

With the cost of college education rising, students and parents can use all the help they can get when paying for tuition. DCU's Annual Memorial Scholarship Program can help. We recognize the lifetime value of a college education. The program is designed to assist outstanding students with the cost of their college education.

Each spring, since our program began in 1996, we award scholarships to students who are graduating high school seniors judged most likely to excel at a college or university. There are a total of twenty scholarships.
Five $2,500 Scholarships
Fifteen $1,000 Scholarships

An impartial panel of three college-level instructors and/or admissions officers will judge the students' applications, and select the winners. Judges' decisions are final and are based on the following criteria:
  • Academic merit
  • References from two senior class teachers
  • An essay judged on the quality of writing and the reasoning used
  • Awards and recognition
  • Extracurricular and community service activities
To qualify, students must be a graduating high school senior, plan to attend a state-accredited or nationally accredited two or four-year college or university, and must be a DCU member in good standing.*

Applying is easy! Each year, applications are available from January 1st and are due back to DCU no later than the second week in March. Scholarships are awarded each year by the end of May. Simply look for information in the winter issue of Network (available each January).
You can download an application in .pdf format. An application can be requested from January 1 through February 29 by sending an email to dcu@dcu.org including your name, member number, and address. You can call the Information Center at 508.263.6700 or 800.328.8797. Or, you can visit any branch from January 1 through February 29, 2008 to pick up an application.
