Money Market Accounts

 High Rates and Flexibility

If you're looking for high rates, easy access, and federally-insured security for your savings, DCU's Money Market Account is for you. There's no minimum to open your account and with as little as $1,000 you will earn dividends that often rival uninsured money market mutual funds. For our current high Money Market Account rates, visit our rates page. Use one of our Savings Calculators to see how fast your money can grow.
Unlike certificate accounts, your DCU Money Market Account is completely flexible. You can make deposits and withdrawals anytime with no penalty. You even have optional access by check (limit 3 per month by Federal regulation).*
*Federal Reserve Regulation D limits total phone, fax, audio response, and PC Branch transfers or withdrawals from all savings accounts to six per month unless going towards a loan payment or a DCU Treasurer's Check payable to you. Transactions made at a branch via an ATM, or though the mail are unlimited as are deposits into your money market account.

The More You Save, The More You Earn

As the money in your DCU Money Market Account grows, you'll automatically earn a higher dividend rate. Here are where the breaks fall...
Money Market Dividend Rate Tiers
  • $1,000 to $9,999
  • $10,000 to $24,999
  • $25,000 to $49,999
  • $50,000 to $99,999
  • $100,000 and over

DCU's rates consistently beat bank money market accounts. And, our tiered rates mean you don't have to open a new account to get the best rates. Take a look to see how we're doing against the competition.

 Convenient Access to Your Account

You can access your account 24 hours a day using any DCU ATM, PC Branch, Easy Touch Telephone Teller, and your Money Market Account checks. You can also access your account in any DCU branch and make deposits by mail.
When you direct deposit your net pay, Social Security, or pension into your DCU Checking Account, you'll want to regularly transfer some of this money into your Money Market Account. It's easy. You can set up automatic transfers on PC Branch or have us set up automatic transfers for you. It's a great way to pay yourself first and make your money grow faster.

 Safety and Security

While the higher tiers on DCU's Money Market Account rival those of money market mutual funds, those funds are uninsured. DCU's Money Market Account is federally insured along with your other DCU savings up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. Government Agency. Additional aggregate coverage is possible depending on how you structure the ownership of your family's accounts.

 Opening Your Money Market Account

To open your account, print out a Checking and Savings Application (.pdf format), fill it out completely, and return it to DCU with your opening deposit of $1,000 or more. You can also open your account at any DCU Branch.
For more information about savings accounts or any of DCU's products and services, visit a local branch or call our Information Center at 800/328-8797 weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Eastern time.
Rates may change after the account is opened and are subject to change weekly. Funds earn dividends from day of deposit to day of withdrawal, compounded daily and paid monthly. Dividends are calculated on the full balance using the highest applicable dividend rate. Accrued dividends are forfeited if account is closed prior to monthly dividend posting. Fees or other conditions may reduce earnings on this account. Refer to DCU's Truth-In-Savings Disclosure and Account Agreements and Schedule of Fees and Service Charges.
