Frequently Asked Questions

 General FAQs

How do I access DCU's Wireless PC Branch?
In order to access Wireless PC Branch you need a valid DCU member number and password, and a wireless device with an Internet connection. Simply enter the Wireless PC Branch URL, mobile.dcu.org, into the browser of your Internet-enabled wireless device and then log in using the same member number and password you use to access PC Branch. Note that older Palm devices may require you to install a Wireless PC Branch PQA file before being able to log on.

Which mobile devices are supported for DCU's Wireless PC Branch?
You can access Wireless PC Branch with virtually all Internet-enabled PDAs, mobile phones, and pagers.

What happens if I get locked out of Wireless PC Branch?
If you get locked out of PC Branch, it is necessary to call DCU Member Services to reset PC Branch for access. If you have a custom password established for your PC Branch access and cannot remember it, you can request that the PIN be reset to the original 4 digit PIN assigned to the membership. This PIN will only affect PC Branch and Wireless PC Branch. Once your password is set up on your PC, you may use your account number and password to immediately log in to Wireless PC Branch.

 Mobile Phones

I keep getting locked out of my account when I try and log in on my mobile phone. Why doesn't it accept my log in information?
Using your mobile phone to enter data takes a little practice. Make sure you are in the correct mode to enter numbers and not letters.

Why can't I see the first few transactions of my account history?
Due to the screen size on the mobile phone, only a limited amount of information can be displayed. Some mobile phones take you to the middle or bottom of a new page instead of the top. To make sure you are at the top of the page, use the up arrow key on the phone to scroll all the way to the top of the page. If you want to view more information below, use the down arrow key to scroll down until you come to a More link. When you click on More it will take you to the next page of information.

How do I know if my phone is web-enabled?
If you have a mini-browser, micro-browser, or wireless web on your phone's main menu, then it is web-enabled. Contact your mobile phone carrier to confirm that your phone is web-enabled and that the service is activated. Many mobile phone carriers charge a monthly fee for wireless web access and may also charge for the volume of data exchanged.

 Pocket PC Devices

I am able to view the home page of Wireless PC Branch on my Pocket PC, but when I attempt to logon I get an error message.
When you attempt to gain access to a secure Web site from Windows CE, you may receive the error message, "Unable to establish secure connection."
Microsoft Pocket Internet Explorer may issue either of the following error messages: "The page your are looking for cannot be found" or "Unable to establish secure connection."
To resolve this issue, update to the Microsoft High Encryption Pack for Pocket PC. This add-on supports MD% certificates with the new hashing algorithm. For information about how to update to the Microsoft High Encryption Pack for Pocket PC, visit the Microsoft web site.

  Troubleshooting Questions

What is the error message you are getting on your wireless device?
If the message is Service Not Available then this is a problem with the carrier network and not with Wireless PC Branch. This error may occur if the phone is out of range or if the carrier is experiencing temporary difficulties.

What type of wireless device and wireless Internet service are you using?
Get the carrier or wireless Internet service provider, make and model. This will help when you contact DCU or your service provider. Examples for the various wireless devices:
  • Phone: Sprint PCS (Carrier) Samsung (Make) SPH-a400 (Model)
  • Palm: Handspring (Make) Visor Edge (Model) with Earthlink Wireless Modem (Wireless Internet Service Provider)
  • Pocket PC: HP (Make) iPAQ H3760 / H3765 (Model) with a Sprint PCS Wireless Web Modem (Wireless Internet Service Provider)
