PC Branch Security EnhancementDCU is constantly focused on protecting the security of your personal and financial information. In order to ensure security, recent upgrades to PC Branch have been made. These upgrades will prevent third party sites from attempting to cache login information but may cause some members to be unable to login to PC Branch.
A cookie is a small piece of information (a text file) that a web server can store on a user's hard disk. Cookies allow a web site to store information permanently or temporarily on a user's machine and later retrieve it.
The Cache or Temporary Internet Files folder is the location on the hard disk where web pages and files (such as graphics) are stored as they are viewed. This speeds up the time it takes to display the information because the browser can open them from the hard disk instead of from the web.
Some third party software installed into standard browsers and computers (i.e. toolbars, adware, etc.) attempt to use cookies and cache your PC Branch login information. Many of these browser add-ins are known to be spyware products which we believe should not be allowed. Therefore, any member who has this type of software will not be allowed to login to PC Branch. If you cannot login to PC Branch for this reason, one of the following error messages will appear:
If you encounter one of these error messages please follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
The first step is to delete cookies and Temporary Internet Files/Cache:
For Internet Explorer Deleting Cookies:
Deleting All Temporary Internet Files/Cache:

If a new browser doesn't resolve the issue you may have to download a program that blocks and removes Spyware/Adware.
Here are some free programs you can download: Some types of third party software may cause problems when logging into PC Branch. These types of programs attempt to store your PC Branch login information into the Cache/Temporary Internet Files Folder on your computer's hard-drive. Because of recent security upgrades to PC Branch, you may not be allowed to login if you have these types of programs. Below, we have listed the different types of software that are known to cause this problem and a few methods that may resolve the issue.
Spyware/AdwareSpyware is internet jargon for software that sends your personal information to a third party site without your permission or knowledge. This type of software tracks the web sites you visit and can even gather information about sensitive data like user names and passwords. Adware is another type third party software. Adware typically displays advertisements on your computer or browser in exchange for "free software". For example, some pop-up blockers can be considered adware. In order to protect your financial privacy, it may be necessary to install a spyware/adware search tool to determine if your computer has any of this software installed. If it has been installed, it needs to be removed. We have listed some free downloads for a few spyware/adware search tools above.
Additional Third Party SoftwareOther types of third party software besides adware and spyware include some types of pop-up blockers and toolbar software. A popular example of the toolbar software is HotBar. The HotBar Browser Toolbar presents buttons on your Internet Explorer browser that you can change while you surf to relate to the web site you visit. These buttons also provide you instant access to search, Yellow Pages, and more. The browser toolbar also allows you to apply different images to your Explorer toolbar and can be added to your email (Outlook, Outlook Express, Hotmail, and Yahoo Mail). In order to login to PC Branch, this software may need to be disabled or uninstalled.
Internet Explorer Content AdvisorMicrosoft Internet Explorer has a feature called Content Advisor that allows parents to restrict access to certain sites, based on content filter settings. Unfortunately, there is a known defect in Microsoft Internet Explorer's Content Advisor that causes it to behave inappropriately with our security enhancements.
If you have Content Advisor Enabled within your browser these are the steps required to access PC Branch:
Or, you can disable Content Advisor with the following steps:
