| About DCU | |||
Digital Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial cooperative owned by and operated for our members. DCU was chartered in October of 1979. Since then, DCU has been chosen as the credit union for more than 670 companies and organizations. DCU serves more than 300,000 members and their families in all 50 states.
DCU is the largest credit union headquartered in New England as measured by assets and among the top 15 nationwide. According to Callahan & Associates, a credit union consulting group, of the top 50 largest, DCU has been the fastest growing credit union in America in the last ten years. That's thanks in large part to the satisfaction and loyalty of our members and the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and staff.
Vision and Mission
Unlike most companies, we have credit union Vision and Mission Statements that we live every day.
Our Vision "All members achieve financial well-being"
This means DCU wants to be the catalyst and the cheerleader for our members long-term financial success. Products and services that give members a better financial deal and the education to make the most of them are critical. Our award-winning, unbiased StreetWise Consumer Education Program is strong evidence of our commitment to member consumer and financial education.
Our Mission
"To be the primary financial institution of our members" We want to be our members first choice for everything financial. To achieve this, we continuously improve the services we offer and the ways to access those services. Whats more, we emphasize communicating the availability of beneficial products and services to members. This is so they learn whats available to them and how to get most out of their membership.
The Credit Union Difference
Members come to DCU for a wide variety of savings products, loan products, and financial services. Our philosophy is to provide members with superior value through high dividend rates, low loan rates, easy terms, and caring, professional service. In addition, we develop relationships with other financial concerns to bring members value and convenience in investing, insurance, and business services.
DCU is governed by a 7-member Board of Directors. Directors are DCU members who are unpaid volunteers elected by the membership. These dedicated individuals set the direction of the credit union and set policies the credit unions management and staff follow in achieving DCUs Vision and Mission. Directors serve three-year terms.
Board elections are held each spring. Each DCU member receives one vote, regardless of their account balance, as long as they maintain a $5.00 minimum balance in their Savings Account. This democratic form of organization ensures the institution remains responsive to the needs of our member/owners.
Unlike banks, DCU has no stockholders. The members who use our services are our number one priority. All credit union earnings return to members as dividends on their savings accounts, competitive loan interest rates, cost of member service, or contribute to reserves.
Each members savings is insured to $100,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. Government Agency. Individual Retirement Accounts are insured separately up to $250,000 per member. Select here for detailed information on federal insurance.
Even so, DCU is not like other credit unions. Read about Banking The DCU Way and find out why you should choose DCU for all your financial services.
